Team,
A recent Gallup poll states 70% of Americans believe the law should protect the right to same-sex marriage. A majority among both Democrats and Republicans. Yet, Ohio Republicans are ignoring the will of the people.
Following the ruling on Roe, Justice Clarence Thomas openly stated the court should reconsider the previous ruling on same-sex marriage.
The House debated the Respect For Marriage Act to protect marriage equality. House GOP leadership did not whip its members against this bill, but Ohio Republican Jim Jordan took it upon himself to urge his colleagues to vote against marriage equality.
Jordan even incoherently claimed, “This bill is simply the latest installment of the Democrats’ campaign to delegitimize and attempt to intimidate the United States Supreme Court.”
In the end, 157 House Republicans voted against marriage equality – including eight in Ohio: Troy Balderson, Steve Chabot, Warren Davidson, Bob Gibbs, Bill Johnson, Jim Jordan, Bob Latta, and Brad Wenstrup.
We need leaders in power willing to stand up and fight for marriage equality – those ready to move Ohio forward. Chip in to help us flip Ohio blue today >>
