Hi John, it's Bernie Sanders.
Cori's always had my back, so today I’m writing to you to share my endorsement of Cori and explain why it's so critical we join together to support her re-election.
I'll explain more in just a moment, but first, I have to ask: Will you show your support for Cori and chip in $5 or anything you can toward her re-election campaign? Her primary election is in just 9 days, so we must do everything in our power to make sure she can defeat her corporate-backed opponent.
Cori is a proven leader and fierce ally of the working class — and exactly the person we need driving our progressive movement in Congress. As a nurse, pastor, and single mom of two kids, she has always been involved in her community — and she brings her lived experience to Congress to fight on behalf of working families. After the murder of Michael Brown Jr. in 2014 just minutes from where she lived, Cori stepped up to serve her neighbors as a medic and clergy on the front lines of the movement — protesting in defense of Black lives for 400 days. When attacks on abortion rights started escalating, Cori began sharing her own abortion story and has been leading the fight to pass urgent reproductive health protections.
Cori and I have been working together in Congress to push forward the fight to pass Medicare for All and a Green New Deal. Most recently, we joined together urging President Biden to leverage the Defense Production Act to fund climate action investments. Cori is not afraid to take bold action — and keeping her in Congress is critical to the future of our progressive movement.
Here’s the challenge: Corporate PACs and special interests are spending millions this election cycle to attack progressive leaders like Cori. Take it from me, it couldn't be more important that we all show up as a movement to support Cori through this election.
We must send a loud message that we will not back down in our mission to dismantle systemic racism in America and pass transformative policies that lift ALL of our families up. That’s why I’m asking for you to support Cori today, John:
Thank you for being a part of this,
Bernie Sanders
