These are actual headlines from gun-control zealots questioning whether law-abiding gun owners, who are willing to exercise their second amendment rights to defend their communities against violent criminals, exist: 

The only “assault weapons” that need to be banned are the Democrat’s repeated attacks on the second amendment. Our founders made it clear that the right to keep and bear arms “shall not be infringed.” And this week, a good guy at a mall in Indiana reminded us why.

Pelosi is still wrangling votes in the House for her radical assault weapons ban, which unfortunately advanced through the Judiciary Committee this week. When this bill will be up for a vote is uncertain, but one thing is for sure: I’ll be there to vote NO.

Monday, July 18th: My week begins with a live virtual interview on Newsmax where we discuss news of the day including inflation, President Biden’s trip to the Middle East, and Health and Human Services (HHS) proposed rules forcing Pharmacists to fill abortion pills.

Afterwards, I head to the airport for my return trip to Washington, D.C. and, once back on Capitol Hill, I head to the House Chamber where I pay tribute to my good friend Patrick Jones from Ware County.

Once back in my office, I meet with Japanese Embassy Congressional Affairs Minister Tomoaki Ishigaki, who serves as the primary liaison between the Embassy and Members of Congress.

Afterwards, I open my office for a meet and greet with a large group of Georgia Young Republicans who are visiting the Capitol. As other members of the Georgia delegation join us, we have a great question and answer session with these future leaders.

Next, I head to our weekly Whip Team meeting followed by our first vote series of the week in the House Chamber.

Later in the evening, I have another live virtual interview with Newsmax as I discuss Dr. Anthony Fauci’s retirement announcement.

Tuesday, July 19th: Things are gradually getting back to normal here in Washington and this morning, for the first time post-pandemic, I’m up early to escort a family in for a tour of the White House.

Once back on Capitol Hill, I head to our weekly GOP Conference before heading to an Energy and Commerce (E&C) Oversight and Investigations (O&I) Subcommittee meeting regarding the recent Roe v Wade decision by the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS).

Once back in my office, I meet with my good friends from the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) as they bring me up to date on their continued record-breaking performances.

Next, I head to the House Chamber for our first vote series of the day and afterwards head to Statuary Hall where I meet the Morgan family from Effingham County who are visiting the Capitol this week.

After returning to my office, I have a meeting with staff to discuss the upcoming vote series this afternoon before meeting with my good friends at Georgia Power including CEO Chris Womack.

Next, I head to an E&C member meeting where we discuss the details of the privacy bill that will be part of our mark up tomorrow before the full committee. My next meeting is back in my office as I welcome Dr. Bryce Gartland, President & Co-Chief of Clinical Operations at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta.

After a meeting with representatives from Avadel Pharmaceuticals to discuss issues with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), I meet with representatives from Earth Echo Youth Leadership, an organization focused on building a global youth movement to protect and restore our planet’s ocean resources.

Next, I head to the House Chamber for our second and final vote series of the day and afterwards remain in the Chamber to pay tribute to former WTOC-TV Anchor Cyreia Sandlin.

Wednesday, July 20th: We are excited to welcome former Vice President Mike Pence to a special meeting of the Republican Study Committee (RSC) this morning. While VP Pence served as Governor of the State of Indiana, he also served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, where he was Chairman of the RSC.

Afterwards, I head to Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) office where I meet with the leader and other select members to review the work of our task forces and our Commitment to America plan.

Next, I head to the aforementioned E&C full committee mark up where we spend the next six hours marking up five bills, including the privacy bill addressing Internet platforms. During the markup we suspend our work for a brief time as we head to the House Chamber for votes.

After the vote series, I remain in the Chamber where I pay tribute to native Savannahian and long-time broadcast journalist Bill Edwards for his distinguished career.

Before returning to the E&C markup, I meet with Michael Smith with the United Way of the greater Valdosta area and afterwards with Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice, MD, President and CEO of Morehouse School of Medicine, who I have worked with for many years both as a Member of Congress and as a member of the Georgia General Assembly.

Later, I head to a meeting of the House Energy Action Team (HEAT) where we hear from Sam Belcher, Sr, VP of Operations of First Energy, before heading to Statuary Hall where I film this week’s edition of Buddy’s Briefing.

Once back in my office, I have a virtual interview with Will Peebles of Savannah Morning News before having a phone interview with Tia Mitchell with the Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC).

Thursday, July 21st: Our guests today at our weekly GOP Doc Caucus meeting is Directors of Paragon Health Institute who discuss conservative policy solutions for public health, Medicare, and the private market.

Next, I have a radio interview with my good friends on the World Famous Butch and Bob show in Jesup as we discuss issues in Washington before heading to the House Chamber to pay tribute to Pastor Rosemary Woods from Brunswick in Glynn County.

Afterwards, I head to the Rayburn Office Building where the House Agriculture Committee hosts a member meeting with American Farm Bureau President and Georgian Zippy Duval.

Once back in my office, I join in on our all staff conference call before meeting with an intern from Georgia who is working in another member’s office but has ties to the First District.

Next, I head to the House Chamber for our final vote series of the week and afterwards I host a lunch in the Members Dining room in the Capitol for three of our interns who are with us this summer.

Later, I head to the airport where I fly to Orlando, FL, where I will be speaking at a Pharmacy conference tomorrow.

Friday, July 22nd: It’s always a pleasure to join my good friend John Fredericks on his radio show and after a very busy week in Washington, we have plenty to talk about this morning. I am especially glad to take questions from John’s expansive and astute audience.

I’m honored this morning to be a guest at drug wholesaler AmerisourceBergen’s annual conference being held this year in Orlando, FL, and to take part in a legislative panel discussing the future of pharmacy.

Afterwards, I head to their massive trade show for independent community pharmacy customers where I have the opportunity to meet with participants on a more personal level.

After a great visit, I head to the airport where I have a virtual interview with Fox 28 TV in Savannah to discuss my vote on contraception this week followed by a virtual interview with WTOC-TV in Savannah to discuss my vote on the marriage act this week.
