This week, the House Judiciary passed an assault weapons ban bill out of committee – that means that soon, Congress will have the chance to reinstate a ban on these weapons of war and finally save lives. And their action couldn't be more critical.

There is one deadly link between all of the deadliest mass shootings in the US: The gunman used an AR-15 style weapon. Buffalo. Uvalde. Highland Park. Odessa. Dayton. Aurora. Parkland. Poway. Orlando. Las Vegas. Pittsburgh. Newtown. Charleston.

Assault rifles have been the weapon of choice for some of the most heinous mass shootings in our country and it's only because the ban on these deadly weapons – proven to effectively save lies – has not been reinstated for nearly 20 years.

It is long past time for life-saving change, John. And now, with a bill to ban assault weapons on its way toward a House vote, we need to make it absolutely clear to our lawmakers: Take these deadly weapons off the street.
