Hi John,
I just wanted to write to you to introduce myself to you. I’m
Tim Costley and I’m hugely honoured to have been selected as the new
National Party Candidate for Ōtaki.
For those of you I haven’t yet met, I’m 39, married to Emma,
and we have three daughters, aged 10, 8 and 6. Emma is a social
worker, currently working at Arohanui Hospice, and for the last 19
years I’ve been serving in the RNZAF as a helicopter pilot, holding
various leadership positions.
I’m really excited about picking up the strong legacy that
Nathan Guy has built here over the last 15 years, and being part of
the amazing work you have all done to turn this seat blue again, and I
intend to do everything I can to keep it that way! Over the next few
months I’ll be transitioning from the Air Force to full-time
campaigning, and I’m very fortunate to have a strong campaign team,
led by Shirley Sowry.
One of the first challenges is to introduce myself to the
wider electorate and get my name known. I’ve asked the branch chairs
and their networks to kindly deliver a postcard to the entire
electorate before Christmas. If you’re able to help with this, please
your local branch chair: Brendan McQuillan, Martin Vernazoni, Lorraine
Pollock and John Tanner. You contact them via email at [email protected],
or ring the office in Levin on 368 5151.
You might also have seen that on Monday, Chris Bishop joined
Nathan and I to launch a petition
to build the four-lane Horowhenua Expressway. The road is critical to
our whole electorate and to New Zealand. This is something I’ll be
championing over the next year, and I’d love your support to promote
it. I have hard copies available that you may like to have on your
businesses front desk or take around friends. Please contact me on 368
5151 if you can help. The interaction around the petition is also a
great opportunity for people to get to know me.
Finally, I’ve launched my campaign on Facebook
and Instagram
with the handle @timcostleynz. You can get regular updates there, so
please ‘like’ or follow me, and even better ‘share’ my posts to your
family and friends.
Please join me at our next Electorate meeting is on Monday
Dec 9th, 7pm at the Rotary Hall in Ōtaki or at one of the social
events coming up (more details to follow).
2020 is a big year for National and me and I need your
support to change the Government. I will work hard and I won’t let you
down. Have a Merry Christmas and all the best for the New
Year.
Kind regards
Tim Costley http://timcostley.national.org.nz/
