This week, the U.S. House passed a bill codifying the right to contraception in America. I was proud to vote in favor of ensuring people can access contraception, as an extreme right-wing Supreme Court rolls back our rights and protections.
195 Republicans voted against protecting the right to contraception. That’s 96% of the House GOP caucus. It is very clear that the right-wing on the Court, in the House, and the Senate want to go beyond overturning Roe. We must keep fighting back by organizing, legislating in Congress, and ensuring Democrats hold our majorities in Congress.
Being able to easily access contraception is fundamental to our health and well-being. It is one of the most essential tools of reproductive freedom.
That’s why it’s outrageous that the GOP opposes access to contraception. It’s outrageous that the Supreme Court would hint at a willingness to overturn precedent protecting the right to contraception.
We know the GOP will continue its attempts to destroy our democracy, our reproductive rights, our environment, our gun safety laws, and our social safety net. It’s why we must redouble our advocacy, our organizing, and our electoral work.
