We're back with the July WFP update, John. These monthly updates are an inside look at what’s happening in our party, including key primary elections and all the organizing WFP members are doing to build a better future for our country.
THE WFP WINNING STREAK CONTINUES
In last month’s newsletter, we covered some major WFP wins out of Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Texas. We’re thrilled to share that our winning streak has continued in states including California, New York, Illinois and Colorado:
In case you missed it, Delia Ramirez won an overwhelming victory in her run for Illinois’ newly drawn 3rd Congressional District! Like many of our progressive candidates, she was up against an onslaught of outside spending from corporate Super PACs and special interest groups. Ramirez would be the first Latina elected to Congress from the Midwest and is almost sure to represent this solidly blue district. As Delia said in her victory speech, “We just broke a thick-ass glass ceiling.”
In Colorado, CO WFP Executive Committeemember Elisabeth Epps faced $300,000 in big business spending in her race for the state legislature – but that couldn’t stop us. Epps decisively won her race for State House District 6 in Denver. It’s likely Epps will go on to win this solidly blue district and we can’t wait to see her progressive leadership.
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: Building a Working Families Majority in states across the country and in Congress is not just a goal of ours for the future. It’s not something we plan to do down the line. It’s what we are doing in Congress and statehouses across the nation — right now.
But powerful forces will not stop trying to defeat us. Our people-powered candidates continue to face an unprecedented amount of spending from right-wing Super PACs and billionaires who are terrified by the idea of more champions for working families taking seats in Congress and state legislatures.
These dark money forces have tried to stop our movement before, but we’re showing up and doing the work to out-organize the special interests.
Can you contribute $6 or any amount today to our Working Families Majority Fund? Primaries for WFP champions like Mandela Barnes (WI-Sen), Andy Levin (MI-11), Rashida Tlaib (MI-12), and Cori Bush (MO-01) are coming up in just a matter of days, and we have to be prepared for anything.

We need you! Corporate PACs and billionaire donors are shelling out big bucks to attack our elected leaders who support working people! Join us to support members of The Squad as we identify supporters and persuade voters who are on the fence!
WFP Skills Training: Safety & Story In This Moment
(Wednesday, July 27, 7:30-8:30pm ET)
This WFP community conversation and training will help activists and candidates understand the current political moment in 2022, crafting their story of self/short rap within that context, and how to leverage circles of influence to share and create connection within local communities.
