Friend,

We are excited to share with you a special project we have been working on
with our partners at the Center for American Progress. Our [ [link removed] ]Guns and
Anti-Government Extremism Report was released recently, on July 20th,
2022!

This project was very important to us because we wanted to explore the
rise in extremist groups, connections to Jan 6th, and how guns are
interwoven in this discussion. Throughout our research, we found guns as a
central part of extremist groups and movements. These groups stockpile
weapons and feel the need to defend the Second Amendment ferociously.
Their extremist beliefs about government and public lands can often lead
to conflicts.

An [ [link removed] ]example of this was the Bundy Ranch incident. A public lands dispute
snowballed into a standoff between armed extremists and the Bureau of Land
Management. As we prepared this report, it was revealed through the
January 6th hearings that Jason Van Tatenhove, the former spokesman for
the Oath Keepers, got his start at the Bundy Ranch incident. Drawing these
connections from earlier extremism to current issues like January 6th was
an important part of this project.

We want to educate Nevadans on the seriousness of extremism and guns. We
provided recommendations for [ [link removed] ]policy solutions in this report that will
hopefully be useful for policymakers moving forward. We have a
responsibility to address these issues head-on so we can avoid more
violence in the coming months and years. Please check out our report and
share it with your community, to build consensus for change!.

In solidarity,
