Folks,
Recently, the U.S. House passed the Respect for Marriage Act, the first step in codifying the right to marriage equality for all Americans. But we’re disappointed to share that EVERY Republican Congressman from Virginia voted against the bill. That’s why we’re asking you to contribute to the Virginia Democrats: to help make sure we keep Control of Congress in Democratic hands and away from these congressmen who refuse to support the right of Virginians to marry who they love.
Reps. Wittman, Good, Cline, and Griffith each loudly voted NO on the measure that would enshrine the right to marriage equality. At a time when the Supreme Court is poised to overturn the landmark Obergefell v. Hodges ruling, turning back the clock by decades on LGBTQ rights, this critical piece of legislation deserved their votes. These four congressmen failed Virginians.
NOW is the time to stand up and let these legislators know that Virginians won’t sit idly by as they take away the rights of our neighbors. Chip in to help elect Democrats up and down the ballot who will hold the ground in this fight and defend the rights of ALL Virginians.
Thank you for doing your part to ensure that Virginia is for lovers – now and always.
