Dear MoveOn member,

Attacks on abortion are nothing new. And though we’ve witnessed the
culmination of a decades-long strategy to rob women, trans folks, and
pregnant people of their inherent right to bodily autonomy, the fight is
not over.

Abortion is still legal in 42 states—though many states already have
restrictive laws or bans waiting to go into effect.^1

It’s a lot. We have every right to be outraged. And now is the time to
turn our collective outrage into power. And at a time when there’s so much
noise clogging the airwaves, it's important to take the time to ground
ourselves in what all of us can do—right now—to support abortion access at
this critical time.

Five things you can do to support abortion access:

1. Talk to your family and friends. Make sure those around you know that
abortion is still legal in most states, share resources, and encourage
them also to take action to support access. We cannot go on as business as
usual. [ [link removed] ]Abortion Finder is a website that helps anyone find access,
based on where they live.

2. [ [link removed] ]Start a petition. Thousands of MoveOn members have used MoveOn's
free petition tool to channel outrage into impact in communities across
the country. These attacks will not stop and will come from every
direction. Creating a petition is an impactful tool that can be used to
leverage the demands of thousands (and even millions) with just a few
clicks. Often [ [link removed] ]starting a local or state petition can get traction,
because you may have insights into how all of us can support abortion
access in your community.

3. Donate to abortion funds and independent clinics. The harsh truth is
that abortion remained inaccessible for many people even under Roe. Cost,
transportation, a lack of childcare, and mandatory waiting periods are all
barriers that people face while seeking abortion care. The good news is
that abortion funds do the pivotal work to help people navigate these
barriers by providing resources and support.

Furthermore, independent clinics are on the frontlines providing
comprehensive abortion care to women, trans, gender nonconforming folks,
and all other people who need it—and we need to make sure their doors can
stay open amid looming attacks and uncertainty. [ [link removed] ]You can support
abortion funds and independent clinics by pitching in a donation to the
National Network of Abortion Funds and the Abortion Care Network.

4. Demand Congress and the White House take action. Democrats in the House
have already passed a bill to restore the protections of Roe—but [ [link removed] ]now
the Senate needs to act. And as we've seen, [ [link removed] ]we also need expand the
Supreme Court in order to rebalance it and restore public trust. The
Supreme Court has been taken over by right-wing power grabs and stolen
seats—and its new Trump-appointed justices now threaten the future of
abortion rights, gun safety, voting rights, civil rights, and more.
[ [link removed] ]President Biden and Democrats must expand the Supreme Court in order to
rebalance it.

Furthermore, while President Biden has taken some steps, he can do
more—including [ [link removed] ]declaring a national health emergency to free up
resources to provide abortion access in places where abortion has been
banned or become further inaccessible.

5. Vote out the GOP in November. Make no mistake about it: Republicans got
us here. That’s why it’s important to hold abortion opponents accountable
by voting them out of office and electing pro-Roe candidates who will
protect abortion rights. Democratic governors can stop state-level
abortion bans from being codified into law, and U.S. senators can help
rebalance the courts and pass pivotal legislation to help protect
access. [ [link removed] ]You can take the pledge to defeat the GOP—you'll get an "Our
Bodies. Our Freedom." sticker, and you'll learn ways to take action
through MoveOn's targeted, impactful election program.

Though we know trigger laws, impending litigation, and state and local
legislation will continue to rob access from people in red states, we will
continue to do what’s necessary to protect access to safe, culturally
competent, and affirming abortion care for all.

Just last week, Present Biden took executive action expanding access to
medication abortion, protecting access to contraception, and protecting a
patient’s right to abortion care in hospitals—in spite of state law—if the
person’s life is at risk.^2 This fight isn’t over!

It’s important, as a movement, that we tackle the radical right’s agenda
from all angles. Take one, some, or all of the actions listed above and
spread the word with your family and friends.

Thanks for all you do.

Want to support MoveOn's work? Donald Trump's preparations for being able
to steal the presidency in 2024 are well underway and include working to
replace top election officials in battleground states with his own
loyalists. Which is why MoveOn is doing something we've never done in our
23-year history: We're launching a powerful, multimillion-dollar effort to
defeat Trump-backed secretaries of state across the country and elect
individuals who will count every vote and ensure fair elections.
