Gov. Justice thanked West Virginians for their continued support Wednesday after the latest poll results released by Morning Consult ranked Gov. Justice as having the #5 highest approval rating of all governors in America. The Governor’s stellar ranking is up from the #6 spot he occupied in the same poll last year.
“To be among the very highest-approved governors in America is a true honor. With all the historic successes we’ve seen in West Virginia, especially in the past year, people are prouder than ever to be from this state. They’re walking around with their heads held high, and that’s exactly what this poll proves,” Gov. Justice said.

Gov. Justice has issued a proclamation, calling for the West Virginia Legislature to convene in Special Session on Monday, July 25, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. The Special Session call contains one item: the Governor’s proposal to reduce West Virginia’s personal income tax.
Coming off the greatest year of revenue collections in state history, Gov. Justice announced his proposal to permanently cut the personal income tax by an aggregate of 10%.

Gov. Justice and First Lady Cathy Justice announced Thursday that schools in five new counties across West Virginia are being added to the roster of participants in the state’s Communities In Schools program. A total of 15 schools in Logan, Marshall, Monroe, Ohio, and Randolph counties will be the newest additions to the education initiative.

On Monday, Gov. Justice announced the preliminary approval of over $20.8 million in grant funding to begin a series of six massive broadband infrastructure projects across the state through the Major Broadband Project Strategies (MBPS) program.
The MBPS program is a branch of Gov. Justice’s Billion-Dollar Broadband Strategy – a plan to invest over $1 billion in state and federal funds to make broadband connectivity available for the first time to 200,000 West Virginia homes and businesses.

Gov. Justice announced Friday that the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI), West Virginia’s rating and statistical agent, has filed a proposed workers’ compensation loss cost decrease of 7.2%, effective Nov. 1, 2022. This premium reduction results in a projected $14 million in savings to West Virginia employers.

On Monday, Gov. Justice announced over $18.1 million in Appalachian Regional Commission grant funding recommendations for 14 projects in communities across West Virginia.
The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) is an economic development partnership agency of the federal government and 13 state governments across the Appalachian region. ARC’s mission is to innovate, partner, and invest to build community capacity and strengthen economic growth in Appalachia.

After a tractor-trailer carrying acetone-based material wrecked on Interstate 64 just west of the Interstate 77 split early in the morning on Tuesday, the West Virginia Division of Highways was able to get the road reopened within 36 hours.
The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection, along with local law enforcement, emergency medical service, fire departments, and contractors with West Virginia Paving, worked alongside WVDOH throughout the night to clean up the chemical spill that damaged the roadway and to repave the road itself, all while maintaining detours.
