John, I was heartened to see the House of Representatives vote on Friday to restore key portions of the Voting Rights Act -- which the Supreme Court wrongly gutted 6 years ago. If the House's bill becomes law, it will be easier to fight blatant efforts to suppress the right to vote, such as discriminatory voter ID laws and racial gerrymandering.

But David Schweikert voted against the House bill -- he effectively voted to uphold the shameful attempts by legislatures around the country to restrict access to the ballot box. This vote further demonstrates how harmful Schweikert is, and how he's solely focused on appeasing the most extreme portions of his party.
