Whether they are assisting our military or our police, working dogs sacrifice and risk everyday in the interest of keeping our cops and soldiers safe, and to help them successfully complete their missions.

We all saw Conan, a Belgian Malinois, being honored at the White House after he was injured chasing down the terror mastermind al-Baghdadi. Conan is a wonderful ambassador for all the K-9s working to protect Americans around the world today.

That is why I have introduced the K-9 Hero Act.

This legislation will empower the Attorney General to make funds available to cover medical expenses for retired military and police dogs through grants to nonprofits that work with retired working dogs.

Towards the end of their lives, their healthcare can become prohibitively expensive, making them hard to place in loving homes.

If you want to help me fight for our K-9 friends, please consider a donation of $25, $50, or more.

Whether they are sniffing out roadside IEDs, bringing down an armed suspect, or locating deadly drugs at our ports of call, our working dogs have earned this benefit with their service.

Texas voters recently passed a Constitutional Amendment to allow handlers to keep their service dogs after retirement.

Now, the federal government must do its job and give our four-legged heroes the resources they need to live out the healthy, happy lives of dignity they have earned.

If you agree, I hope you will consider contributing to my campaign so I can keep fighting for the K-9 heroes that fight for us.
