Year-End Tax Planning
Though December marks the end of the calendar year, there is still time to make changes that affect your 2019 taxes. The Missouri United Methodist Foundation is offering a free webinar on this topic. Andrew Zumwalt, Assistant Extension Professor with the University of Missouri and certified financial planner will cover relevant tax topics for clergy and how congregants can structure their giving to lower their taxes (and possibly increase giving). Webinar topics are designed specifically for pastors and congregants.
For Pastors and Congregants:
- The major changes from the Tax Cuts and Job Acts
- The Earned Income Tax Credit and the expanded Child Tax Credit that greatly benefit low income families
- Actions to take after Dec 31 that affect your 2019 taxes
- Qualified Charitable Distributions and how they can boost contributions at the end and beginning of the calendar year
For Pastors:
- The value of tax withholding vs estimated quarterly tax payments
- Taxation of housing allowances or parsonages before and after retirement
This webinar will be at 9 a.m. on December 12. To register, go to https://mumf.org/resources-downloads/upcoming-events/.
