Weekend Kickoff
Prepare for upcoming heat wave in King County
The National Weather Service is forecasting high temperatures and an extreme heat warning for Tuesday through Friday, July 26-29. With temperatures that could reach the high 90s, high risk populations should take extra precautions.?
High risk populations include: older adults (65 and older), young children, people with chronic health conditions or mental illness, athletes who exercise outdoors, outdoor workers, and people living unsheltered or homeless.
Have a plan:
- Find a place to cool down
- Reduce physical activity and move to shaded areas. Do outdoor activities in the cooler morning or evening hours;
- Cool your body down quickly by wearing a wet scarf, bandana, or shirt;
- Drink plenty of water and don?t wait until you?re thirsty to drink more.
