Hello Colorado Republicans -

I hope you are enjoying your summer! Thanks to many of you who are finding time to walk with our candidates, make calls for them, and host fundraisers for them. We have great groups of Republicans across the state who are working as a team to contact voters and introduce them to our whole slate of candidates. I'm proud to see our county, legislative, congressional, and statewide candidates work together and build unity.

Campaign finance reports just revealed that Chuck Schumer's PAC spent $4 million to try and decide our Republican primary here in Colorado. The Colorado Democrats spent over $250,000 to do the same thing. Their deceptive attempts failed. We need to make sure they keep failing in November!

Our Political Director, Matt Denning, is working very closely with our state legislative candidates, and we continue to offer trainings and team building opportunities for them. Together, they have already walked tens of thousands of doors, and we will keep the momentum going! We're very grateful to local elected Republicans like Westminster Mayor Pro Tem Dave DeMott who are taking the time to help our legislative candidates. There is room on our teams for everyone!

Next weekend, I'll be on the Western Slope for several events. If you're in Eagle or Mesa County, I hope to see you there.

Onward to victory!

Candidate of the Week: Dennis Hisey for State Senate District 11
My name is Dennis Hisey and I'm running for reelection to the Colorado State Senate in one of the most competitive seats in the state, Senate District 11, on a platform of “Choose Common-Sense Leadership.” Colorado’s quality of life has been declining in recent years. Let’s get back on track! My opponent is a current state representative whose voting record is closely aligned with Joe Biden and the far left, so voters will have a clear choice this fall.

I have served a 4-year term in the Senate and 12 years as a County Commissioner in El Paso County and hope to continue to fight back against liberal policies in the State Senate. My common-sense platform focuses on restoring Colorado quality of life by reducing crime, improving schools and education choice, and reducing the cost of living by reining in regulations that drive up energy, health care, and housing costs.

My wife, Kathy, and our 5 beautiful kids and 11 grandkids inspire me every day to give back to Colorado through public service. Thank you for your support. So far, our campaign has knocked on over 10,000 doors, but we can always use more help! Contribute or volunteer to help at www.DennisHisey.com ([link removed]) .

** Scoop: McConnell pledges he's "all in" on Colorado Senate race
------------------------------------------------------------
[link removed]
Axios: ([link removed]) Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) made a surprise appearance Tuesday night at a Capitol Hill fundraiser for Joe O'Dea, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Colorado who is pledging to compete aggressively for Democrat Michael Bennet's seat.

Why it matters: With signs Republican candidates may face struggles in battleground states including Pennsylvania, Arizona and Georgia, the party's hopes of retaking the majority may depend on bluer Colorado.

Driving the news: "I just want to assure everybody, we're going to be all-in in Colorado," McConnell told the assembled crowd, according to a person who attended the event.

** House GOP campaign arm adds Kirkmeyer to 'Young Guns' program, puts Aadland 'On the Radar'

Colorado Politics: ([link removed]) Three weeks after she won the Republican nomination in Colorado's newest congressional district, state Sen. Barb Kirkmeyer achieved top status in the House GOP campaign arm's Young Guns program for candidates in competitive districts, the National Republican Congressional Committee announced Tuesday.

The Brighton state lawmaker and former Weld County commissioner, who won a four-way primary on June 28, faces Democratic state Rep. Yadira Caraveo, a Thornton pediatrician, in the evenly divided 8th Congressional District.

Established after Colorado gained a congressional seat following the 2020 Census, the new district stretches from Adams County suburbs north of Denver to Greeley. Both national parties have targeted the district, and national forecasters predict it will be among the most competitive races in the country in this year's midterms.

** These Colorado Dems Voted To Reduce the State’s Felony Murder Penalty Amid Homicide Spike
------------------------------------------------------------
[link removed]
Free Beacon: ([link removed]) A pair of Democrats running for Congress in Colorado voted to weaken the state's penalty for felony murder as Denver experienced a near-record spike in homicides.

In the spring of 2021, state legislators Brittany Pettersen ([link removed]) and Yadira Caraveo ([link removed]) backed a bill that made felony murder in Colorado a Class 2 felony instead of Class 1. As a result, criminals convicted of felony murder in the state can no longer be sentenced to life without parole; instead, they may receive just 16 years in prison. The Democrats' votes came as homicides in Denver spiked to near-record highs—in 2020, the number of killings in the city rose to 95, up from 63 the year before. In 2021, Denver experienced 96 homicides, the highest number seen in four decades.
