A funny thing happened on the way to the FORUM!
It may not have been as funny as the 1966 periodic musical comedy but the amazing volunteer leaders from the White Plains, Mamaroneck, and Scarsdale Democratic Committees hosted a Candidate Forum on July 18th, the first of many forums scheduled over the next month.
The questions were serious and poignant, as we continue to navigate a political climate that ignores the issues and values most important to residents of NY-16. I had the chance to close out the forum with these words:
This election has some real consequences. What I will do for you in Congress, is what I’ve always done. I listen and I vote for you. And I vote as you would want me to vote. We have infrastructure needs, I’ll vote to fund infrastructure. We support our allies like Israel and Ukraine, I would vote for aid. You need federal resources, me and my staff will be dedicated to connect the dots for you. I’m asking for your support because I have 7x the elected experience as the next person in this race. I represent 62,000 people in this district. And on the issues that Democrats care about, I have a long list of accomplishments, progressive legislation with pragmatic results that make a difference in the lives of people. Getting results, even while being in the minority party representing Democrats, I’m the only one who can check that box as we enter the midterms. I believe that in 2022, the Bronx and Westchester voters need to say they know what year it is, and we can send a strong woman to congress who will stand up for us as the rest of the country turns the clock back. I hope you will be standing right there with me.
