We headed into July with our attention, and headlines, focused on the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and rightfully so. But we wanted to make sure that the Court's 6-3 decision in West Virginia v. EPA didn't get lost in your newsfeeds.
In the same week our highest Court took away our rights to choice and privacy, they also landed a devastating blow to our climate justice movement and environmental protection efforts.
This decision heavily restricted the Environmental Protection Agency's power to confront climate change and now Congress must act to ensure a path to a clean, healthy, secure energy future.
Just as we need to codify the protections for choice and privacy, we now need to pass meaningful legislation in order to fight against climate change.
Climate change is real. And climate change isn't just about protecting our natural resources, it's also about safeguarding our communities – often low income and immigrant communities of color – from its devastating effects.
But Republicans in the House and Senate have repeatedly blocked lifesaving legislation from reaching the crucial votes we need, which is why it is more important now than ever to secure a full House and Senate Majority this November.
