The Hennepin County Attorney’s office can be a positive influence in our community. The office is full of great prosecutors who are focused on tackling rising crime and pursuing justice. What it needs is an effective leader who knows how to handle big challenges.
As Majority Leader, I’ve led the House through civil unrest, a pandemic, and historic divides among legislators in my party and especially with Republicans. It was not an easy job. I did it while pursuing justice for immigrants, reforming police arbitration laws, leading cannabis legalization, and working to expand the pool of police recruits to address rising crime. I had to be able to handle pressure and deliver results for Minnesotans.
That kind of experience is most important for the Hennepin County Attorney to have. It's not a courtroom lawyer job or a position to go back and protect the status quo--it is a team leader job with real world consequences and an opportunity to build something better for all of us.
I am the only candidate in this race with the experience to make a difference. This is not a time to learn how to be a leader only after taking office.
