JOHN,
In my re-election campaign in Michigan’s 12th district, a billionaire-funded Super PAC has already dropped hundreds of thousands of dollars in an attempt to defeat me.
In other battleground states across the country, billionaires are attempting to buy elections. They’re funding corporate and right-wing candidates who will further rig our government to benefit the super rich at the expense of the rest of us.
Our country was founded on the principle of one person, one vote. But when billionaires have unlimited resources to buy our elections, they undermine our democracy and drown out the voices of everyday people.
Join me and our allies in demanding Congress pass a Billionaires Income Tax to make billionaires pay their fair share in taxes and limit their influence on our elections. Sign the petition today!
According to a new report from our friends at Americans for Tax Fairness, billionaires donated almost $240 million to the combined campaign efforts of Donald Trump’s two runs for president.
PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel, who is worth about $5 billion, has so far spent almost $30 million through Super PACs supporting the 2022 senatorial bids of two former employees who share his anti-democratic and anti-tax beliefs.
Wall Street trader Jeffrey Yass, who is worth about $12 billion, has already contributed $28.5 million to right-wing political candidates and groups this election cycle to subvert our democracy.
But it’s not just billionaires! Their corporate PACs are also directly backing candidates who are trying to sabotage our elections and take away our freedoms.
Join me and our allies in demanding Congress tax the wealth of billionaires and limit their undue influence on our democracy.
Thank you for fighting for a future that includes all of us, not just the billionaire class.
Always serving you,
Rashida
