96 Growing the Party, Elevating Leaders Chairman Kyle Hupfer
speaks at the graduation luncheon of the 2022 class of the Indiana
Republican Diversity Leadership Series.
Today was a special day. Today,
we celebrated the members of the second class of the Indiana Republican
Diversity Leadership Series, a first of its kind among state Republican
parties.

During the development of the series, through numerous
meetings and conversations with so many different individuals and
groups, there were some simple guidelines that came into focus: ensure
we recruit the best and brightest; give them access to leaders in the
party; foster authentic and open dialogue among the class and with
presenters; let each class member chart their own course and decide how
and where they use what they gain from the class, but support and
encourage them to do good with it, and be positive role models in their
communities regardless of their paths.

I hope that we are meeting
those lofty ideals. And I know we certainly have the best and brightest,
and if you get the chance to meet them I am sure that you will agree.
I think it's important that we continue to look forward. Next, this
class, along with our inaugural class, will travel to Washington, DC,
giving them an incredible opportunity to not only experience the city,
but have in-person meetings with national elected and political leaders.
For many, this will be a first visit to our nation’s beautiful capital.
Congratulations again to the graduates of the second Indiana
Republican Diversity Leadership Series!

Enjoy this week’s newsletter
and share it with a friend.

Sincerely,

Chairman Kyle Hupfer
Governor Holcomb's Week That WasContinuing Indiana's Economic
Development Momentum with State’s First Microelectronics Fab On
Wednesday, Governor Eric Holcomb and Secretary of Commerce Brad Chambers
joined Purdue University President Mitch Daniels and executives from
SkyWater Technology to announce the company’s plans to build a $1.8
billion state-of-the-art semiconductor R&D and production facility in
Indiana, supported by 750 new high-wage jobs in Tippecanoe County.
“Days like today prove that Indiana’s investments in the economy of the
future, infrastructure and talent development are cultivating an
environment that enables innovators such as SkyWater to choose Indiana,”
said Gov. Holcomb. “Our success and our mission to support industries of
the future would not be possible without the incredible partnerships
with our globally ranked universities, like Purdue University, helping
us attract and retain quality, innovative talent.”

Headquartered in
Bloomington, Minn., SkyWater plans to construct a 600,000-square-foot
semiconductor research and development and production facility in
partnership with Purdue University in West Lafayette. The facility will
allow SkyWater to respond to increasing customer demand for accelerated
access to domestic development, manufacturing and advanced packaging for
microelectronics, and will house advanced next generation fabrication
facilities.

“Today’s announcement marks a dramatic advance toward
multiple strategic goals of Purdue’s last decade,” said President
Daniels. “Enriched academic and career opportunities for our students;
new research possibilities for our faculty; a transformed, more
attractive environment on and adjacent to our campus; and the latest
demonstration that Purdue and Greater Lafayette are now the hot new tech
hub of a growing, diversifying Indiana economy. Even for the place that
specializes in them, this constitutes a genuine giant leap.”

  Op-ed: Let’s Not Wait to Send a
Billion Bucks Back to HoosiersBy Governor Eric Holcomb
July 19, 2022
When the State of Indiana officially closed our fiscal books on June
30, we collected $1.24 billion dollars more than was last forecasted,
which has created over $6 billion in reserves. In short, Indiana’s
economy continues an unprecedented growth rate, thanks to employers and
employees investing their time and talent right here at home.

You’ll
recall our Automatic Tax Refund (ATR) formula kicked in earlier this
year and the state began sending $125 to every taxpayer or $250 to
those who file jointly, starting with those the Department of Revenue
could transfer funds to electronically. Checks will be mailed for the
remaining taxpayers beginning in August only because the specific paper
supply required was delayed until then. Thank you for your patience.
But that delay could be a blessing in disguise.

 FOX BUSINESS: Biden called inflation
'temporary' a year ago — but prices are still hitting new highsFrom
[link removed]
ear-ago-prices-are-hitting-new-highs Fox Business:

"President Biden
tried to assuage voter fears about inflation exactly one year ago by
insisting that an increase in prices was expected to be temporary and
likely to fade as his administration invested more in infrastructure
and worked to clear supply chain disruptions.

"'We also know that as
our economy has come roaring back, we’ve seen some price increases,'
Biden said in remarks on July 19, 2021. 'Some folks have raised worries
that this could be a sign of persistent inflation. But that’s not our
view. Our experts believe and the data shows that most of the price
increases we’ve seen are – were expected and expected to be
temporary.'"
The Cook Political Report: House Rating Changes:
IN-01 and MN-01 Get More CompetitiveNote from The Party Line: The race
in Indiana's First Congressional District has changed from "Leans
Democrat" to "Toss Up."

From
[link removed]
g-changes-01-and-mn-01-get-more-competitive?check_logged_in=1 The Cook
Political Report:

"District-level polling conducted by party
strategists continues to show softness for Democratic incumbents in
places that haven't seen a competitive race in eons, and that includes
freshman Rep. Frank Mrvan in Northwest Indiana's 1st CD. But in
Minnesota's 1st CD, a uniquely strong Democratic candidate and a
post-Dobbs energy jolt of Democratic enthusiasm could be making a
special election in a Trump +10 seat closer than anticipated.

"Most
vulnerable Democrats have the luxury of beginning the fall with a
strong personal brand after winning hard-fought 2018 and 2020 races and
a big cash-on-hand advantage over their GOP rivals. But Mrvan has
neither: the mortgage broker and son of a 40-year state senator skated
to Congress in 2020 with longtime Rep. Pete Visclosky's help and
remains shockingly undefined against well-funded GOP Air Force veteran
Jennifer-Ruth Green.

"Republicans haven't targeted this labor-heavy
seat in eons, but House GOP operatives view Green, one of about 150
Black female commercial airline pilots in the country, as a rising
star...

"Today, private GOP polling pegs the president's approval
rating here south of 40%, with only around half of voters familiar with
the Democratic incumbent."
