The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention recently joined Be Vocal: Speak Up for Mental Health, an initiative empowering people to speak up for themselves and their communities. On Tuesday, December 10, we will hold a live panel discussion in partnership with media company @Refinery29, examining the connections between social media and mental health.
The discussion will explore the ways that mental health and social media intersect – including how to safely share your story on social media, how to make the social media experience healthier for yourself and your community, how to be “authentic” in the age of influencing, and more.
Panelists will include:
- Sade Strehlke, Refinery29 Health and Wellness Director
- Chyler Leigh, Actor and Advocate, Be Vocal partner
- Christine Moutier, M.D., Chief Medical Officer, AFSP
- Carolyn Merrell, Head of Global Policy Programs, Instagram
- Elyse Fox, Mental Health Advocate
- Minna Lee, Mental Health Advocate
The panel discussion is scheduled from 11:50 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. EST, and will be live-streamed via Refinery29’s Instagram. Tune in on Tuesday!
