In a moment, I'm going to ask you to chip in to my good friend Ilhan Omar’s re-election campaign. But first, I'd like to explain why this request — especially today — is so important.

Ilhan is one of a handful of elected officials who truly understands the purpose of public service. Since being elected, she has been a voice for the voiceless — a fierce advocate for working families and the millions of Americans who can't afford to pay for lobbyists.

Ilhan is working to guarantee healthcare for all, fighting to end childhood hunger, standing up to the pro-war consensus in Washington, and taking on the greed of the fossil fuel industry.

She does this exhausting, thankless work while being subjected to the vilest, most racist attacks I have seen in my time in politics. But I have never once seen it distract her from fighting for her district and the working class.

That’s why I am proud to endorse her for re-election today to Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District.

But she needs your support, too. She’s up against a conservative primary opponent who just outraised her last quarter and would rather maintain the status quo than fight for progress. And with right-wing super PACs flooding the primaries of progressive women of color across the country with last-minute attack ads, we can leave nothing to chance.
