Let's start by being frank: for a long time, Democrats have not paid enough attention to down ballot races. And we've paid a price for that.

Republicans have managed to build up state legislative majorities and elect Attorneys General across the country who have worked to shape and enforce regressive laws. In the wake of Roe v. Wade being overturned, we are seeing just how critical the long-term impact of state and local elections can be.

Jen has always understood the importance of the down ballot. She first ran for the State Senate in 2017, flipping a Republican seat and ending the Georgia GOP's supermajority in the chamber. Now, she's running for Attorney General because the office will have a profound impact on Georgians' rights.

There are inherent challenges in running for down ballot offices like Attorney General. They don't often get the media coverage of Governor, Senate, or even House races. And because of that, many voters aren't fully aware of all the ways that an Attorney General can affect their lives.

From the first day of this campaign, Jen has resolved to reach as many people as possible, and raise awareness of just how important the office of Attorney General is for protecting our rights and creating accountability.

In recent weeks, it's clear that the rollback of abortion rights — and the possibility that marriage equality and access to contraception could be reversed next — is spurring folks to take a closer look at the officeholders who enforce state laws.

This will be an Attorney General race like none other, and we're building a campaign that's equipped to handle the high-profile attention. But we can't do it alone.
