Adam Schiff for Congress

John,

I'm sure many of you have looked on in horror this week, as I have, at the unprecedented, hellish heat wave sweeping across the United States and Europe. Airport runways are melting, train tracks are buckling, and acre upon acre of forest is being consumed beneath raging wildfires the likes of which we know all too well in California.

The United States’ leadership during this global energy and climate crisis is essential. Putin's homicidal war of aggression on Ukraine has squeezed Europe's supply of fossil fuels, and a pivot to renewable energy would both undercut Putin’s war economy and help save our planet. And all Republican Senators and one Democrat are standing in the way of action.

Our climate is tipping our planet towards a point of no return, swept up in a vicious cycle of accelerating extreme weather effects. And despite legislation House Democrats have passed to invest hundreds of billions of dollars in clean energy, the Senate remains paralyzed while the world burns.

It’s unconscionable.

Here is the truth, John: We need a national mobilization the likes of which we have not had since World War II to avert climate catastrophe and end our dependence on tyrants like Putin and MBS.

Will you contribute any amount to our campaign to defend our Democratic House majority and expand the Senate today so we can pass the climate legislation we so desperately need?

The United States has pledged to cut 2005-level emissions by 50 percent by 2030. We are not even 20 percent of the way there.

We cannot lose the opportunity for a Democratic majority in Washington to take immediate and long-lasting action for our climate.

We need to expand our Senate majority so we can move powerful legislation to wean ourselves off of fossil fuels. That means we need at least two more Democratic Senators.

We cannot give up now. I have said it many times, no truly transformative legislation comes about quickly, or easily. And the world we leave ourselves and our children in the decades to come will be the one we shape now with our actions.

John, I’m humbly asking you to pitch in to help our campaign defend our Democratic House majority and compete on an expanded Senate map to get the votes necessary to pass climate legislation.

The American people deserve better. With your help, we’ll not only keep, but expand our majorities in November, and that’s what we’re going to deliver.

Thanks for your support,

— Adam Schiff
