The Supreme Court’s unprecedented decision to overturn Roe has shifted the battle for safe and legal abortion to the states, and governors are now on the frontlines of this battle.

Only Democratic governors will protect women’s right to make their own healthcare decisions in many states. My fellow Democratic women governors in Kansas, New Mexico, and New York are pro-choice champions in their states.

Meanwhile, Republican governors and gubernatorial candidates like Paul LePage are attacking abortion rights, imposing bans and even proposing criminalizing doctors and women who get abortions.
