Hi team –
Growing up in the Olympic Peninsula, I know how important it is for our children, grandchildren, and GREAT grandchildren to have the chance to experience the beauty of our natural world the way we did.
July is National Parks and Recreation Month, which means there's no better time than now to highlight how critical our national and state parks are to our country's infrastructure. Our parks protect our natural resources, provide economic opportunity for nearby communities, and remind us of the importance and beauty of our environment.
I proudly voted the Great American Outdoors Act through the House in 2020. The act permanently and fully funds the Land and Water Conservation Fund. It also provides critical funding to repair and protect our national parks. This legislation is helping create nearly 19,000 jobs while honoring our commitment to Tribal communities.
But listen, Congress needs to continue addressing the infrastructure needs of our public lands – both for the sake of our environment and the rural communities that are the center of our state's outdoor recreation economy.
This National Parks and Recreation Month, will you join me in urging Congress to protect our national parks and public lands? Add your name next to mine today >>
As always, it's an honor to serve you,
Derek Kilmer
