John,
Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar recently announced that Texas will
have a record $27 billion surplus over the next two years. This is enough to eliminate over one-third of your property tax bill. We
agree with Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s statement that the Legislature’s "first
priority is to send money back to the taxpayers of Texas." The budget surplus should be applied to property tax relief for
Texans! |
Homeowners in Texas currently pay the sixth-highest
property taxes in the U.S., with some homeowners seeing double-digit increases in their bills in one year. This is unsustainable and must be
addressed in the upcoming legislative session. Do you need property tax relief? Take our poll and
let us know! Eliminating property taxes and providing tax
relief to Texas homeowners is a central plank of our Party’s platform. After Comptroller Hegar revised the state’s Certification
Revenue Estimate, we were pleased that Governor Greg Abbott announced Texans "can
expect a very large property tax cut coming out of this next legislative session."
We’re heading in the right direction, but we must stay focused and go all the way. Texans need help from
skyrocketing inflation, and state and local governments can deliver by cutting taxes and shrinking the size and cost of government.
The Republican Party of Texas is fighting for property
tax relief for Texas homeowners. Answer our one-question poll: Should the budget
surplus provide property tax relief? |
