After further review, the Ohio Supreme Court said the congressional map drawn by the GOP-led commission is an unconstitutional partisan gerrymander! They’ve kicked the map back to the GOP-controlled legislature, where the rules of the game state they have 30 days to pass a new map. If they’re unable to pass a map, the task will be turned over to the GOP-led commission. The commission will also have 30 days to pass a new map.

So where does that leave those of us playing defense for democracy? A new map won’t be drawn in time to be implemented for the 2022 midterm elections. In a game of inches, that gives map manipulators great field position, but there's no defense stronger than the people. It’s time to dig our heels in and get set for this showdown late in the fourth quarter.

The congressional map in Ohio is on the line. We still have a chance to deliver fair maps for the next cycle to the voters that worked so hard to institute these reforms.
