Friend,

As a meteorologist, it was my job to communicate the weather news to Northwest Illinois, and (most importantly) to earn my viewers' trust.

[link removed] [[link removed]]A big reason why I'm running for Congress is because I believe we're facing a trust and communication crisis in Washington, and nowhere is that more apparent than in how we talk about climate change .

Oftentimes, we hear politicians frame climate change in terms that aren't tangible to everyday life -- like "saving the polar bears” or through dire warnings of global catastrophe in “20 or 30 years.” While both are true, as a meteorologist I can tell you the climate crisis is impacting our day-to-day lives right now .

Big storms capture the public's attention, but it’s routine heat waves -- like the one we're currently in -- that are the #1 weather-related killer. For local farmers, even small temperature swings can have a devastating impact on crop yields. And if you're in a town near the river like Moline, serious heat could mean serious flooding and damage to local businesses.

In Congress, it'll be my goal to frame climate change through the lens of how it impacts our daily lives. The ‘here and now’ can't be denied, and we need to paint that picture if we’re going to cut through the typical GOP rebuttals.

I'm ready to treat climate change with the urgency it deserves. By electing me, Illinois has a golden opportunity to lead on the climate crisis, but it’s going to take a groundswell of grassroots support to do it. If you can, send in a donation to support my campaign today. [[link removed]]
