Cori is exactly the leader we need driving our progressive movement in Congress. As a nurse, pastor, and single mom of two kids, she has always been involved in her community — and she brings her lived experience to Congress to fight on behalf of working families. After the murder of Michael Brown Jr. in 2014 just minutes from where she lived, Cori stepped up to serve her neighbors as a medic and clergy on the front lines of the movement — protesting in defense of Black lives for 400 days. When attacks on abortion rights started escalating, Cori began sharing her own abortion story and has been leading the fight to pass urgent reproductive health protections.
Last summer after Cori stayed outside the Capitol for five days demanding an extended eviction moratorium to keep people housed, she and I introduced the Keeping Renters Safe Act together. And together we responded to the overturn of Roe v. Wade by calling for a declaration of a public health emergency.
Cori is not afraid to take bold action — and keeping her in Congress is critical to the future of our progressive movement.
