Dear Neighbors,

I hope you and your family have been enjoying the warm temperatures we?ve had this past week. It?s hard to believe that we?re already more than halfway through summer. Kids will be heading back to school before we know it!

Last week, economists revealed that inflation has hit its highest level since 1981. The new number is 9.1% and it is having devastating impacts on family budgets across Minnesota. As I chat with folks around the area, inflation and the high cost of living are far and away the biggest concerns I hear about.

Like the rest of you, my family is feeling the effects of inflation in our budget as well. The current levels are unsustainable.

Unfortunately, many of my Democrat friends here in the Minnesota House do not seem to understand the seriousness of this issue. Toward the end of May, one of my colleagues stood up on the House floor and extolled the virtues of the Biden/Walz economy. Their comments were delusional then and they are today.

Moving forward, we need to do all we can to stop the reckless spending from the? Biden/Walz administrations that directly led to this problem.

Next session, I will push hard to return the state?s historic budget surplus back to you through permanent and meaningful tax relief. Putting more money back into your pocket is a real and significant way we can help mitigate some of the pain caused by the Biden/Walz economy.

*Veteran Bonus Pay*

This past session, the legislature approved legislation that provides bonus payments to post-9/11 veterans and Gold Star Families. This is something that Minnesota has done previously as bonuses have been paid to service members for other conflicts including WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Because of the withdrawal of forces from Afghanistan in 2021, post-9/11 veterans are now eligible to receive these bonuses.

The application period has officially opened, and the last day to apply is June 30, 2024, unless the funds have been exhausted prior to that date.

You can find the application and more information about the program?here [ [link removed] ].

*Staying in Touch*

This will be my last newsletter until November. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. It would be great to chat with you. I can be reached at 651-296-4333 or via email [email protected].

Have a great summer!

Josh
