Protecting the rights of immigrants living in the United States and reforming our failed immigration system is a moral and economic imperative. Taking children from their families or detaining parents with children are inhumane policies that rip apart communities and must be rejected.

For the past three years, the horrific Remain in Mexico policy has denied asylum seekers their right to due process, has made them vulnerable to criminal acts and has risked their lives.

We’re joining with our coalition and allies to demand President Biden terminate the inhumane, Trump-era Remain in Mexico policy once and for all.

Immigrant communities and allies rejoiced when the Supreme Court ruled that President Biden acted within his lawful authority in attempting to end the Trump-era Remain in Mexico policy (also known as Migrant Protection Protocols or MPP). The policy has led to forced family separation and migrants becoming targets for kidnappers and drug cartels.

Unfortunately, the Supreme Court’s ruling does not bring an immediate end to Remain in Mexico. Instead, the justices said it must go back to a lower court. It is still unclear if the Biden administration will attempt to end the program immediately or wait for the lower court to rule. Still, immigration attorneys say the Biden administration can immediately stop enforcing the program.

President Biden must end this program immediately and get to work addressing the human rights abuses implemented by former President Trump.

Tell President Biden: Terminate the Remain in Mexico policy!

The treatment of migrants entering the U.S., seeking a better life, has been unconscionable. It is not enough to merely condemn the inhumane policies of the Trump era. We demand action.

Migrants and asylum seekers deserve freedom, shelter, and a compassionate welcome to our country. The U.S. should help those fleeing for safety from natural disasters and political unrest, in accordance with our laws and humanitarian values.

President Biden has the authority to immediately stop enforcing the inhumane Remain in Mexico policy and he must use it.
