Good news, team.

The Senate just passed the bipartisan Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring Our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxins Act of 2022, known as the Honoring Our PACT Act. Named after an Ohio veteran who passed away from cancer after being exposed to burn pits while deployed to Iraq, this act will improve health care and benefits for veterans who have been exposed to toxic substances.

This is a major win for veterans, service workers, and their families. The PACT Act strengthens our commitment to the men and women who served America and ensures they are able to live with the dignity and comfort they deserve. I am beyond proud that this bill has passed.

From burn pits, to radiation, to Agent Orange, toxic hazards are a major cause of ailment for veterans — something we must recognize. Luckily, this bill is a step in the right direction of addressing those impacts.

As a senior member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, it is my honor to advocate for veterans who have served our nation faithfully. A few years ago, I was proud to invite the family of a veteran who suffered a burn pit injury to be my guests at the State of the Union address. I felt it was important for my colleagues, and all Americans, to see the faces of those who sacrifice so much for us.

That’s why the passing of this bill means so much – it’s a sign that all our hard work is truly paying off.

I was honored to fight for this bill, and I am proud to see it passed by the Senate. We need to fight together for those who fought for our country. Will you contribute $5 to our campaign today so I can keep advocating for veterans in Congress?
