John,
Matt Birk, the Republican candidate for Lt. Governor of Minnesota, is doubling down after a video surfaced this week showing him making disturbing remarks about women and survivors of sexual assault.
Speaking at an anti-abortion convention last month on the day Roe v. Wade was overturned, Birk said that our culture “promotes abortion” by telling women “they should have careers,” says pro-choice Minnesotans are just playing “the rape card,” and compares abortion to slavery.
After coming under fire this week, Birk is standing by every word he said, claiming he’s “given the same speech pretty much every time” at hundreds of anti-abortion events over the past ten years.
Make no mistake: Scott Jensen and Matt Birk are an existential threat to reproductive freedom in Minnesota. We have less than four months to mobilize voters and make sure Minnesota continues to be a state that values women, health care, and science.
John, we are one election away from turning into Texas. Lt. Governor Flanagan and I are fighting as hard as we can to hold the line, but we can’t do it without you.
To make sure we have the resources to keep our first TV ad on the air and ensure Minnesotans understand what’s at stake this November, we still need to raise another $5,471 by 11:59 pm. Can you rush a donation that works for you today to help us get there?
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
I’m grateful,
Tim Walz

Governor Walz and Lt. Governor Flanagan have overcome unprecedented challenges to provide historic investments in education, create new, good-paying jobs, and increase access to health care. And with your help, they can defeat their extremist Republican opponents and continue to move our state forward, as one Minnesota. Can you pitch in $5 now to help them stop extremism and keep Minnesota in DFL hands?
