engine cutoff switch

If you fall off the boat, what would happen to you and your passengers?

Most boat motors have an engine cutoff switch ("the red cord pictured above") designed to shut the motor off if the operator is thrown overboard. Without a cutoff switch, the boat would continue to circle in the water, and may run over the driver, anyone else who may have fallen off, and other boats on the water.

*Protect yourself, your passengers, and everyone on the water by ALWAYS wearing an engine cutoff switch when driving a boat.* Incidents on the water happen in a matter of seconds.

And remember, always wear a life jacket when on a boat, no matter how strong of a swimmer you are.
