Over the last week, I’ve shared with you so many stories about the suffering I have seen at events and the awful treatment animals are subjected to - for nothing more than a few hours of human entertainment.
And this terrible cruelty is just what I have seen, in the open, at public events.
Nobody knows what is going on behind closed doors...until it’s too late.
In pitch-black darkness, animals lived in filthy cages, one stacked on top of another, held in unheated rooms with the windows boarded-up.
More than 70 animals were held in these unspeakable conditions, including Sasha the meerkat. This beautiful meerkat was confined to a small carrier, left to sit on the bodies of rotting chicks she had been thrown to eat.
Fortunately, the suffering of all of these animals was brought to our attention by a brave whistleblower, and we were able to act to protect them. Working with the RSPCA, joint work was undertaken with the police to intervene and raid the premises. The owner was charged, and we are so pleased to report that all the animals were rescued and rehomed, able to enjoy a much happier future.
But sadly, we believe this is not a standalone case.
That’s why your donation today is so important. Your donation will fund a brand new undercover investigation, allowing us to expose what is really happening for animals behind closed doors.
Then, we can show people that visiting a mobile zoo event is not simply a “fun day out for the family”, it is a lifetime of endless suffering for each and every individual held captive.
UPDATE! We have been able to up our target by £500 so now we are aiming to raise £5000! We are so close! Can you help by making an urgent gift now?
With you, we will make sure that this terrible cruelty is hidden no longer.
So please visit www.freedomforanimals.org.uk/Christmas2019 and make a donation before midday tomorrow the 10th December for your chance to give animals in mobile zoos a wonderful Christmas gift!
