On Tuesday, Ayanna put her body on the line to defend abortion rights.
She joined several Democratic colleagues and grassroots activists in front of the Supreme Court in an act of civil disobedience to protest SCOTUS’ cruel and callous decision to overturn Roe v. Wade — and Ayanna was arrested for standing up for the right to safe, legal abortion.

Abortion care is a fundamental human right, and Ayanna will continue to organize, mobilize, legislate, and protest to ensure our policies and budgets reflect that.
The stakes in the fight for reproductive justice couldn’t be higher.
Right now, millions of people face enormous barriers to abortion care, and Black, brown, low-income, disabled, Indigenous, and LGBTQ+ folks are disproportionally harmed.
From introducing the Women’s Health Protection Act and keeping up the pressure on President Biden to declare a public health emergency, to advocating for the abolition of the filibuster and expansion of the Court, Ayanna is continuing to lead boldly in this fight. But, it’s going to take all of us building collective power to restore our rights.
