High-powered assault weapons are weapons of war, and many of my colleagues have been captured by the gun industry’s lobbying power.

That’s why nothing has been done to stop the senseless murder of children in Uvalde and other innocent people.

Lives are on the line and we need to act.

As Chairman, I just moved an assault weapons ban through the House Judiciary Committee for the first time in decades. Now it can be voted on by the whole House, and sent to the Senate. Inaction is complicity.

Assault weapons are so often used for mass shootings because they’re designed for war.

Even as the tragic events mount, weapons companies continue to introduce new and dangerous weapons to our streets.

And their stooges among the radical Republicans continue to echo their talking points, as Andy Biggs and others have done repeatedly.
