The cost of giving birth is very expensive, John. Not to mention the cost of everything that follows. A new study showed that it costs nearly $3,000 to give birth, even with insurance! Giving birth is already a major stress to a family, it shouldn’t be an extreme financial burden.

So, I have an idea and I want to know what you think about it. I believe the government should cover the cost from the pregnancy test to six months after birth.

Imagine the burden we could lift for families if the government covered the hospital fee, doctor’s visits, medication and more?

We are one of the only advanced nations in the world that doesn’t provide universal health care for its citizens. While my goal is to eventually get us there, we need to address the extreme cost of giving birth.

I want to know what YOU think. Do you believe the government should cover the cost from pregnancy test to six months after birth?

Our for-profit medical system is designed to profit off of illness, injury, and birth. We need to change the system. Some people may think it’s radical to cover the cost of giving birth for new moms. But you know what’s really extreme? That taxpayers foot the bill to pad the profits of giant corporate interests.

I believe the government is at its best when it lifts people up and makes life better for all of us. Let’s give new parents a break for a change and cover the cost of giving birth.
