Josh Stein for Attorney General

Hi there — This email is a little longer than what I typically write, but if you have a few minutes, I hope you take the time to read it and then, chip in to show your support of our fight to tackle the opioid crisis.

One year ago today, we announced the second largest state attorney general settlement in the history of the country — a $26 billion agreement with three major opioid distributors and Johnson & Johnson, an opioid manufacturer.

This victory was a crucial step forward to help North Carolinians get the support they need. And North Carolina cities and counties have begun to receive their combined $750 million share of the settlement. These funds have to go to attacking the crisis.

I pray that the treatment, recovery, prevention, and harm reduction services that will be available across the state will help people regain control over their lives and make North Carolina safer.

It was an honor to lead these negotiations to hold accountable some of the companies that helped to create and fuel this crisis. And I’m grateful to the counties and cities that have joined us in the years-long work to bring this money home to North Carolina.

And while I am proud of our accomplishment, there is still work to be done. Our fight to end this epidemic is far from over.

That’s why, on this one-year anniversary of this critical victory, I am asking you if you’ll dedicate a contribution to our ongoing work to improve the lives of folks across the state.

If you can, please add a contribution of $1, $10, $100, or more today to support our fight for a healthy, safe, and prosperous North Carolina. I am grateful for anything you can give.

Your support sends an important and powerful message that our work to help our state heal from the opioid epidemic is as strong as ever.

Thank you for staying the course with me.

— Josh
