Tips to give anglers edge during summer heat

Fishing gets tougher in the heat of summer. Fish are happily feasting on an abundance of natural prey, and may not be as interested in whatever you're casting.
However, knowing when and where to fish can make all the difference. Daryl Bauer, fisheries outreach program manager for Nebraska Game and Parks, recently shared a few tips:
* Prime times to fish ? when fish are most likely to be feeding ? are early and late in the day or after dark.
* Find your "best spots," such as drop-offs and places with an abundance of natural bait, and be there during those prime fishing times.

Take ?em Hunting grand prize winner Luedtke introduces friend to hunting
Outdoor activities are better with friends ? including hunting. Noah Luedtke introduced his friend, Preston Cuddy, to turkey hunting last fall through the Take ?em Hunting challenge and gave him the start he needed.
Luedtke's name was randomly selected from more than 1,100 participants to receive the Take 'em Hunting grand prize, a John Deere Gator donated by AKRS Equipment.

Duck hunters must choose from two bag limits when they register for HIP
Duck hunters again must choose between two daily bag limits when they register for their Harvest Information Program number this year.
Nebraska is entering the second year of a ?two-tier? program for the regular duck season, with the goal of helping?novice hunters gain skill and experience without fear of breaking bag limit laws.

Nebraska fall turkey permits available beginning Aug. 8
It's not too soon to start thinking about fall turkey season. Hunters may begin purchasing 2022 Nebraska fall turkey permits at 1 p.m. Central time Aug. 8. Permits will be available online [ [link removed] ] and at Game and Parks permitting offices.
