John,
Yesterday's court decision — which put into effect Brian Kemp's dangerous 6-week abortion ban — was a clear attack on our right to access reproductive healthcare, and sent a message to Georgia women that further restrictions are on the ballot.
John, when Kemp’s extreme ban became the law of the land yesterday, Georgia became an even more dangerous state for women.
John, I am angry and I am committed. I am in this fight because who we elect as governor matters. Because yesterday’s decision showed exactly how who is in charge of the state government gets to decide who has bodily autonomy. Because Georgians are counting on us to fight for them and protect them.
Under Brian Kemp, Georgia is at or near the bottom on every healthcare measure — from doctor and nursing shortages, to maternal and infant mortality rates to shuttering three hospitals during the pandemic.
The full range of threats facing Georgia women — especially poor, Black, brown and rural women — and LGBTQ+ people are no longer theory.
As governor, I will work every day to ensure access to affordable and safe health care for all, including access to abortion. But first, we have to win in November.
Together, we can win this, John. Let’s get it done.
Stacey
