Friend, we need to talk about the PUBLIC Lands Act:

Authored by California’s Senator Alex Padilla (and co-sponsored by our EnviroVoters team!), this bill would make critical investments in protecting California’s natural treasures while offsetting ongoing climate threats like droughts and wildfires.

Conserving public lands is in all our best interests. These areas capture carbon from the atmosphere and help reduce emissions, ensuring clean air for all! 

Here’s what else you need to know:

1. This new bill will protect more than one million acres of public lands, including over 500 miles of rivers across California.
2. It will dramatically advance our conservation efforts, including safeguarding key drinking water sources.
3. It will promote racial equity by providing all Californians with access to nature – especially communities of color who historically have been deprived of parks and recreational areas.
