Tell your Senators to advance marijuana justice now!
Drug Policy Alliance
Friend,

I’m pleased to share that the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act just became the first comprehensive marijuana reform bill ever introduced in the U.S. Senate, and they’ll take on the issue in a first-of-its-kind Senate committee hearing this Tuesday, July 26.

These are historic steps forward made possible by years of persistent advocacy alongside supporters like you. Build on our momentum by telling your Senators to end federal marijuana prohibition and fully repair the harm it’s caused to our communities.

The Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act (CAOA) would deschedule marijuana to end federal prohibition and begin to repair the damage by expunging marijuana convictions and reinvesting in those most harmed due to unfair, racist enforcement such as Black, Latinx, and Indigenous communities.

We’ve been working behind the scenes with Senate Majority Leader Schumer and Sens. Booker and Wyden to model the CAOA after the MORE Act, DPA’s signature and groundbreaking bill that we’ve passed in the House twice.

Although the current version of the CAOA has room for improvement, we’re confident we can work with the Senate to fix where it falls short so it delivers the justice, opportunity, and reinvestment our communities deserve just like we did with the MORE Act in the House.

The Senate is our last obstacle to reform in Congress: urge them to strengthen the CAOA so we can advance marijuana justice and legalize it right nationwide.

Federal action is long overdue. For more than 50 years, our communities have been locked up and locked out of opportunities due to punitive and racially-motivated marijuana enforcement.

Today the Senate took its first major step. But we need you to keep standing with us to end the federal war on marijuana once and for all.

  Sincerely,

Maritza Perez
