Hi John,
I'm Jessica Benham, representative for Pennsylvania House District 36. I had the pleasure of having Run for Something endorse my campaign for state representative (and my first campaign, period!) back in 2020.
Representing my community is one of the biggest honors and proudest achievements of my life. But getting here wasn't easy.
As the first autistic person and first openly LGBTQ+ woman to be elected to the Pennsylvania General Assembly,
and someone who was getting her PhD while running for office, I knew when I was running that there would be many challenges on my journey.
But thankfully, I didn't have to go it alone. I had the support of my family, my community, and Run for Something.
RFS Regional Director Manny Espitia helped me strategize, organize, and fundraise. The Run for Something network of fellow candidates and mentors talked me through every aspect of the experience.
Just as my family and community saw me through my personal challenges, Run for Something saw me through the political ones.
