John,
The scores are in! Last Thursday, we released our Green New Deal scorecard results for the three top-polling Democratic Presidential candidates: Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, and Bernie Sanders (and scores for more candidates are on the way soon).
Check out the full scorecard here, where we break down our analysis of the candidates’ climate policies, their commitment to championing a Green New Deal, and their plan to win it.
This year, we did something everyone thought was impossible: we set the bar for climate plans where scientists said it needed to be for a livable future. Establishment politicians and pundits told us we were naive and should stick to what is politically possible. But today, leading candidates for President are running on climate plans more ambitious than any others ever proposed in American history.
But these scores also show that the candidates still have room to improve. So we’re gonna keep pushing them to fully commit to championing the Green New Deal and making it the centerpiece of their campaigns.
Chip in to help us keep pushing candidates to get serious about championing the only plan to tackle the climate crisis at the scale that science and justice demand: the Green New Deal.
I wanna give a huge shoutout to all the volunteers who worked with our political team staff to make this scorecard possible--doing hours of extensive research on the candidates and their policies, and designing an incredible interactive webpage for exploring the scores. Everyone reading this email should check it out.
In Solidarity,
Victoria Fernandez
