Not even hours after the Supreme Court issued a devastating ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, anti-choice legislators began mobilizing.

Almost immediately, they managed to enact legislation in my own state of Ohio banning abortion after six weeks of pregnancy. That’s before many people even know they’re pregnant.

And they aren’t stopping there. Bill after bill, in state after state, is being forced through our legislatures, leaving us with more and more extreme anti-choice abortion bans – just days ago, Ohio Republicans introduced legislation that would even ban IVF.

Governor Whitmer and I both know too well what’s at stake here: We both come from states where the anti-choice radicals are pushing dangerous bans in the state legislature, and without protection at the federal level from Roe, the governor’s office is critical to stopping extremist laws like these anti-abortion bans.
