House passes bills to codify abortion rights and ensure access -- The Washington Post
"The House on Friday passed legislation that would protect access to reproductive health care, including the ability to travel across state lines for an abortion, as part of Democrats’ efforts to minimize the consequences of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade last month."
john,
Every woman deserves the right to abortion care regardless of where she lives. Now that the Supreme Court has overturned Roe v. Wade, Kim is working in Congress to ensure women in every state can plan their pregnancies, protect their health, and chart the course of their lives.
Last week, Kim was proud to help pass the two bills in the House that will ensure access to abortion for all women. With women in more than half the states losing access to abortion care at home, these bills protect women who cross state lines to receive abortion care, and it protects health care providers who provide abortions to out-of-state patients.
john – when and whether to become a mother is the single most important decision a woman will ever make. As the only pro-choice woman doctor in Congress, Kim knows this deeply personal decision should be between a woman and her doctor only. The government has no place in the exam room.
Kim will always fight to ensure access to reproductive health care is guaranteed for every woman in every state, but now we need the Senate to act and pass these crucial bills.
