Friend, I’ve dedicated my life to fighting for progressive values and getting real results for southern Arizonans. I am:
- The boy who grew up in Tucson, Arizona in a working-class Hispanic family.
- The survivor who experienced gun violence first-hand and helped save Congresswoman Gabby Giffords’ life as a young intern.
- The advocate who tirelessly fought for women’s rights and reproductive justice as a Program Manager at Planned Parenthood.
- The fighter serving southern Arizona in the State House, standing up for affordable healthcare, critical gun reform, public education, and more.
- The gay man running to give LGBTQ+ people like me the voice and representation we desperately need.
Now, I’m running for Congress in the closest toss-up district in the entire country, so I need your help.

Daniel Hernandez is Mexican-American, gay, and a first-generation college graduate — and now he's running for Congress to strengthen our progressive power. He is currently a state representative, is a former school board president, and is a lifelong Arizonan.
As a first-generation college student, Daniel interned for then-Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and was there on the day of the tragic attack on her life which resulted in 6 deaths and 13 people injured. Daniel was the first to administer first aid to the Congresswoman before the EMTs arrived and was named a national hero by President Obama.
Daniel is running for Congress to continue to fight for progressive values while working across the aisle to get real results for the people of Southern Arizona.
